What is BURN all about?

BURN is a Pilates, TRX, and Circuit Training studio that provides high-intensity small group training classes in a fun, hip, safe, and effective training atmosphere. Our group training classes are one hour in length and designed to work your entire body using minimal equipment to increase core strength, mobility, flexibility, and endurance for any fitness level or ability. BURN’s small group classes provide you with the accountability, attention, and results of a personal trainer at a fraction of the cost. We do offer private sessions for clients seeking true one-on-one training. We help everyone from elite athletes to fitness beginners BURN fat while strengthening and toning muscles. We strive to make Salt Lake City fitter and stronger everyday! Our goal is to inspire you to live a healthier and happier life through fitness by coaching you to do more than you thought possible.

How do I sign up for a class?

Signing up is easy! Go to the Class Schedule page and follow the directions. You can sign up for one of our monthly membership plans, buy a pass, or purchase individual classes. If you need help we will be happy to help you sign up in our studio or over the phone. We are also happy to introduce a new way to check in to class- you’ll purchase a small card with a bar code on it that you can hook onto your key ring or keep in your wallet. You’ll scan it at the front desk before class and boom…you’re signed in. It will automatically keep track of whatever class package you’ve purchased at Burn.

Are all the Pilates classes on the machines?

Yes, the “Reformer” classes are done on machines. The machines give you full body resistance training, much like a weightlifting routine. Pilates does not bulk you up, but creates a long and lean physique.

How is Burn Pilates different from other Pilates classes?

Burn Pilates is based on classical Pilates moves, but we’ve added cardio exercises to make our classes more intense. We’ve combined the strengthening and toning benefits of weight training, the lengthening and postural enhancing benefits of Pilates, and the added bonus of cardio for an elevated heart rate to really feel the burn! We also have minimum down time while adjusting our machines so you will not stop moving. Our classes are small (usually 6 people) this way we can keep our eye on each of you to assess and correct form. Burn Pilates is committed to giving you the best workout experience out there. Our classes are a full hour, not 50 minutes with stretching at the end, but 60 minutes of effective and intense exercise with 5 minutes of stretching after. You won’t waste a minute, which in turn means you won’t waste a cent either!

I have never done Pilates, should I take a private session first?

We recommend taking a private session to help you feel comfortable in a group class. However, depending on your general fitness level and athleticism, you can most likely jump right into a group class. Beginners and advanced Pilates goers are welcome and each will get an intense workout regardless of their fitness level. We can modify or intensify any exercise.

I’m not exactly athletic. Will I be able to do Pilates?

Pilates really is for everyone, even if you can’t touch your toes, or can’t help your grandmother open a jar of pickles. Pilates was originally created as a form of rehabilitation, so it’s a safe, go-at-your-own pace, for-every-type-of-body exercise method. No matter your age, no matter your level of athletic prowess, Pilates can improve your strength, flexibility, agility, and ability to move.

Do you have different levels of classes for beginners or for more advanced athletes?

We have structured our classes at BURN so we don’t need to offer a “Beginner” or “Advanced” class. We are able to offer workouts at every level by modifying exercises for those new to Pilates and intensifying exercises for our more experienced, hard core Pilates goers. Every level of fitness will experience a workout that pushes, challenges, and changes bodies all at your own fitness level.

Pilates is just for chicks, right?

Nope. Pilates was created by Joseph. A MAN. He was a gymnast, a boxer and looked pretty hot well into his 80s– all because of the method he created. That’s why more and more men are taking Pilates. They’re not doing it just to meet chicks. Really.

How often should I take classes at Burn?

You will find out what feels right for you, but because we offer such a variety of workouts you can come every day! You won’t need to worry about overdoing it because each class will work your muscles in different ways. We recommend taking one day off during the week to just relax and let your muscles rebuild and repair. That will get you ready for your next Burn butt kicking!

What should I wear?

Whatever is comfortable for you. Choose attire that allows you to breathe, bend and stretch. Yoga pants, leggings and tank tops are good. 
Fitted clothing is helpful so the instructor can assess your form.

How do I cancel a class I registered for?

To cancel a class you will need to sign in to your BURN account and click the “My Info” tab on the top right of the page. Then select “My Schedule” from the menu bar. Locate the registered class you wish to cancel and click “Cancel” in the far right column. You can also click My Schedule to sign in and cancel a class. We do not accept phone cancellations. Please note that if you cancel your registered class within 8-hours of class time our Late Cancellation/No Show Policy will be enforced.

What is the Late Cancellation/No Show Policy?

Should you need to cancel a class you signed up for, you must cancel online more than 8-hours prior to class time. Our 8-hour  Late Cancellation/No Show Policy is enforced for all classes and class packages. There are no refunds for failure to show to your registered class or for cancellations within 8-hours of a class. A $10 Late Cancellation/No Show fee will apply to Monthly Unlimited users. Please arrive early or on-time to class. Late arrivals of 5 minutes or more may forfeit their reserved spot to accommodate drop-in and/or wait list clients. Late Cancellation/No Show charges may apply. We do not accept phone cancellations, please cancel online.
